GFS Aotearoa/NZ provides tertiary scholarships for high-potential female students from five lower socio-economic secondary schools in the Wellington region, a Pasifika scholarship at Victoria University of Wellington and funds for four Outward Bound Scholarships.
In addition to financial support, all of our students receive three years of face-to-face mentoring while they're studying. Through these relationships GFS Council members provide regular practical support, manaakitanga (care, respect, generosity), and whakatenatena (encouragement). This ongoing care and connection, creates a strong foundation for each student's success. Our incredible GFS scholarship winners inspire us all with their amazing work ethic, ability and abundance of both grit and grace. It's a huge honour to work with such incredible young women, and we know many of them will go on to become leaders in their professions and our society.
We're committed to providing high-quality support for our students. Walking alongside our students to see them gain confidence, build their competence, sharpen their professional vision and start to realise their potential is fantastic. In this way we build on the noble legacy of GFS service and compassion which Elizabeth Townsend began in 1875.
